January Meeting

Happy 2010!  This month we want NEW MAGIC.  Don’t bring something you did ten years ago…bring something new!  I’m looking forward to a new year of magic, so according to our bylaws it is time for elections.  If you are interested in running for an office, please let me know by January 11th at 11:59pm.  I do plan on running again, and I’m working on another calendar for Assembly 24, if you have any ideas, e-mail me or mention them at the meeting.

Magic News…

It is with sad news that Eric Paul passed away on December 30th after a six month battle with lung cancer.  Eric was a performer, author and marketing guru with magic.  Eric was 45 years old leaving behind four children.

I received an e-mail about a movie featuring John Calvert, here is the e-mail I received:  The news in the magic community travels fast, so you might have heard that a new documentary about John Calvert has been released recently.  Produced over the course of nine years by John’s nephew, Hollywood filmmaker Fred Calvert, it’s the first in-depth, feature length film about this legendary magician and adventurer, and is now available at www.johncalvertmagic.com.  John has entertained the entire world for over eighty years, and at ninety-eight years of age, he vows he’s not through yet. He wants the whole magic fraternity to see this film, and we need your help in getting the word out.

If possible, please announce this release to your friends and members through your website and other means. For use in newsletters and news articles, there’s a news release at the bottom of this email. Banners can be found at www.johncalvertmagic.com/banners.html

Also, if you would like to join us in this effort as an affiliate and make some money, there is an affiliate program on the website, www.johncalvertmagic.com

The Web Site – Pictures of the last meeting

Want to see pictures of the last meeting, visit www.sam24.org.  Please take a moment if you have not and fill-in or update your member information.  Compeer Dave MacDonald has worked long hours and produced a fantastic website.  Check out the clip of the month which shows an amazing color change.  I have seen this one before and it is well done, I don’t want to give too much away though, so check it out for yourself.

Upcoming Meetings

2010

January:

Elections

This is a tentative schedule that is subject to change.  Please check for updates each month.

Please be current on your dues.  That is what helps pay for the programs we have.  You can send your dues to Bob Connors, Box 245, Round Lake, 12151.  Make them payable to SAM 24 for $20.

  SAM National Conference for 2010

Did you miss the conference this year?  Well then start your planning for Atlanta, Georgia on June 30th through July 3rd.  More details will be available as we get closer.  In the meantime, check for updates at the 2010 Conference page of the SAM website.

Plus put aside time in 2011 to go to PA for the installment of our own Vinny Grosso as President of the Society of American Magicians (Although that is not official yet, he must still be elected to the upcoming offices).  This should be the event of the month of July in 2011, or at least the week of the conference.

December Meeting

If you missed the holiday party, then you missed out!  Congratulations again goes out to our new Dean of Assembly 24, Compeer Clem Kinnicutt. Thank you to our Dean of the Society of American Magicians George Schindler and his dame Nina and Pat Colby our Regional Vice President.  George and Pat put on a great show for us.  I think Clem even had a tear is his eye. Congratulations also goes out to Compeers Dave MacDonald, Bob Connors and Chuck Tryon for being award the Presidents award.  The Martinka award went to Compeer Bill Karabin.  Thank you to everyone who contributed to make this event a great one!

Joe Goode
