February’s Meeting

February’s meeting was “Classic’s of Magic.”  We were happy to return to the firehouse and find a newly remodeled room and new comfortable chairs.  Thank you to everyone who contributed to the evening’s entertainment including our newest member, Roger Borgen, welcome Roger.

The New E-Newsletter

With the help of some ideas and suggestions of our members, here is the new e-newsletter.  If you have any comments or suggestions, please e-mail me directly.  I have increased the size of the font and changed the delivery so it should appear as the e-mail rather than an attachment.

The Web Site

Please take a moment if you have not and fill-in or update your member information.  Compeer Dave MacDonald has worked long hours and produced a fantastic website.  He also updated the clip of the month which shows Penn and Teller with clear cups and balls.  Thank you Dave!

EJ on Ice

This picture was taken by Compeer Dave MacDonald of our own Compeer and former President of Assembly 24, Erick James (EJ).  Dave recently attended  the RPI Hockey Alumni game

and took some pictures.  You probably know, but in case you didn't, Erick played hockey for RPI from 1996-99.

Prayers for the Payne Family

As many of you know Compeer Scott Payne’s father Chuck Payne past away on Wednesday February 4th.  I attended a beautiful service for Chuck and heard some great stories that were shared. Please continue to keep the Payne family in your thoughts and prayers.

SAM National Conference

This year our annual conference will be held in Buffalo from July 15-18.  If you have never attended a national before you really should go to this one.  Being so close to home, it is only a five hour drive.  There will be some fantastic talent this year and the contests are always a blast.  This year’s conference in being dedicated to international star of magic Norm Nielsen.

For more information go to the conference page, 2009 SAM Conference.

Mark Mason from England

We have a special lecture in store this April.  Mark Mason will be appearing live Monday April 20th at the Pitts Firehouse.  Mark has created some of the most baffling magic on the market today.  This lecture is free to all current members of the SAM who are also current with their dues.  It is open to anyone else for just $20.00 (Well worth the price).  More information to follow at www.sam24.org.

Dues are DUE

With all the excitement lately, dues have been over looked.  Dues are still only $20.00 for the year.  You must be a current member of the national SAM to be a local member.  Your dues help make a lot possible.  So far this year alone there are three FREE lectures from Mark Mason, Danny Archer, and Michael Paul.  Dues will be collected at the March and April meetings or you can mail them directly to Bob Connors, Box 245, Round Lake, 12151.

March Meeting

March has arrived, and so has the snow.  This month we will explore our favorite effect learned from a lecture.  Crack out those lecture notes, we all have them.  Pick one maybe two and be sure include which lecture they came from.  Too often we buy these notes and never look at them again.  Here is your chance to shine.  Next month is Mark Mason at a special day and time, so there will be no meeting on the second Tuesday.  See you all there!
