Signature Routine

June’s Meeting

There has been a slight change for June, we are still meeting at 7:30 at the Firehouse, but I have decided to switch October and June meetings, so this month is “Show Your Signature Trick.”  You know the one I’m talking about…the one that everyone talks about.  Your signature trick or routine is the one to perform most often or the one that is always in your pocket and you perform in line at the market.  You do it best most likely because you enjoy performing it most; therefore people enjoy watching it more because you are more enthusiastic when performing it.  Humm…interesting how that works.  Dave will be running the meeting this month as I will be unable to make it.

The Web Site – Pictures of the last meeting

Want to see pictures of the last meeting, visit www.sam24.org.  Please take a moment if you have not and fill-in or update your member information.  Compeer Dave MacDonald has worked long hours and produced a fantastic website.  He also updated the clip of the month which shows Doug Henning performing sawing on the Tonight Show with the late Johnny Carson.  Nice twist on a sawing, of course done in Henning style!

Fundraiser News

We have had several meetings on our new annual fundraiser.  Compeer Willis White is looking into a location for us at the Saratoga Elks Club.  This venue has a raised platform and an ideal space for to accommodate an audience.  IT is possible that we will perform two shows in two locations over a one week period.  More details will come as we secure a location.  Thanks you to Willis and Bob Connors for looking into these possible venues.

SAM National Conference

This year our annual conference will be held in Buffalo from July 15-18.  If you have never attended a national before you really should go to this one.  Being so close to home, it is only a five hour drive.  There will be some fantastic talent this year and the contests are always a blast.  This year’s conference in being dedicated to international star of magic Norm Nielsen.  For more information, go to the conference page, 2009 SAM Conference.

Danny Archer in May

If you missed it, you really missed out.  Danny did a great job.  His lecture was down to earth magic that any of us could do.  Please visit www.sam24.org for photo’s, compeer Chuck Tryon did a great job for the set-up of the room.  I really felt like I we were in a mini theater.  Thank you to Pete Beeble for the signs to welcome our guest.  Danny sent me an e-mail, so I will close with his note.

“Dear Joe,  I just wanted to say thanks for all your help in arranging my recent lecture for your magic club.  Please express my thanks and appreciation to all those who helped or attended.  I know that many people help with the logistics, arrangements and the like, and often they work behind the scenes and don’t get a lot of credit.  Your hospitality was first rate and that can make all the difference when you are on the road.  I had a really great time in your city and I sincerely hope that the people who attended enjoyed my lecture. Lecturing is something that I really enjoy, and I have tried to come up with a selection of tricks that appeal to a wide range of interests.

I will let John Luka, head of the Magicians Lecture Network, to be sure to let other lecturers know that they can expect great treatment when they visit your city.  Once again thanks to all, and have a great 2009!

Magically Yours,

Danny Archer”
